We’re already working on the next major Herpadex update. This time, we’re focusing mainly on features that make everyday record keeping easier and help you get more value from the data you already have in the app.
Animal transfers between keepers
One of the biggest new features will be the ability to transfer an animal to another Herpadex user.
If an animal changes owner, the new keeper will not need to create it again from scratch. The transfer will take place between both accounts, and the relevant part of the animal’s history can be transferred with it.
The goal is to make sure that an animal’s records do not have to start from zero every time it changes keeper.
Photos and documents attached to records
We’re also adding attachments to records.
You’ll be able to attach a photo or document to selected records. This will be especially useful for health records, sheds, clutches and other events where a written note alone may not be enough.
Clearer shed and clutch details
Sheds and clutches now contain more and more information, and the current dialogs are starting to become too crowded.
In version 0.4.0, their details will therefore move to dedicated pages, giving you more space for the history, individual details, photos, documents and related records.
Add equipment once
We’re also redesigning equipment management.
Lights, misting systems, thermostats and other equipment will no longer need to be entered again every time you move them between terrariums.
You’ll create each item once with all its details and then simply assign it to one or more terrariums. You’ll also be able to keep track of equipment that is not currently assigned anywhere.
Faster feeding records
We’re also making everyday feeding records quicker.
If a terrarium has only one active occupant, you’ll be able to confirm that the animal accepted the food at the same time as adding the feeding record. There will be no need to create a separate record afterwards.
We’re also extending the QR label workflow, so after scanning a terrarium you’ll be able not only to add a new feeding record, but also quickly confirm an existing one.
Version is still in development, and we’re continuing to fine-tune the individual parts.
As always, our aim is to add new features in a way that makes record keeping simpler, not more complicated, and saves you unnecessary steps in everyday use.
